30 Day Photo Challenge, Day 17: On the Shelf

Some years ago, I developed a love for Tiki Mugs. No, it isn’t from a crazy devotion to tropical mixed drinks that will knock you off your seat after a sip – it is from my love of the slightly off-kilter. The focus of the picture is of a pair of Tiki Salt and Pepper shakers that my friend Missie gave to me as a present maybe a year and a half ago. They originate from Disneyland and are proudly displayed with the rest of my collection.

My collection is slightly smaller than it used to be – as long time readers and friends know, we had a fire and weren’t able to recover everything from our apartment. It still vexes me to think of everything left behind, but I just need to remind myself: the roof was in danger of collapsing, and the floor could have easily broken underfoot. Self, be glad that you have some of your old stuff, plenty of new stuff, friends that care for you, and your life.
