Yesterday, Sarah and I went to Beavertail for a picnic in celebration of her mother’s birthday. I enjoy the ocean, but I also enjoy solitude – socializing doesn’t come naturally to me, especially if I am not engaged by the people I am with. As an introvert, you have to get me talking, and if you don’t, I’ll be content to just sit there quietly in my own thoughts. I know it will come off as though I am having a bad time, but it is just my way of interacting.
Anyways, when Sarah and her family went to pick around for sea glass, I stayed with the picnic stuff and was going to figure out my budget for the week when A seagull came by to inspect our picnic blankets. So, I whipped out my sketch pad and drew this:
The seagull proved to be good company, and we made a game out of seeing how close he would get to the bag of chips before I sat up in my seat and he stepped away.
Anyhoo, following the seagull was a robin, who also got to be drawn, like so:
Only now do I notice that I didn’t erase my pencil lines.
So yes, I did a couple of drawings and took a few pictures, so I feel like the picnic was a success. Sarah’s mom and the rest of her family seemed to have a good time, so thumbs-up all around.
